Sangria is one of the most popular drinks, between tourists and residents alike, and whilst we are out in Spain it is one of the first drinks we order at a restaurant - a jug of SANGRIA. There are numerious variations and every restaurant has it's own recipie. Sangria is great at parties, barbeques, the beach and sitting on your balcony in Riviera del Sol. Have fun creating your own, start off with our sangria recipe and if you feel you can impove it to suit your own taste, go ahead. Its very easy to do!
1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz) 1 Lemon cut into wedges 1 Orange cut into wedges 1 Apple cut into wedges 2 Tbsp sugar 1 Shot Brandy, Bacardi & Cointreau 2 Cups ginger ale or club soda or lemonade
Half fill a litre jug with ice, squeeze half of the lemons and oranges (leaving out seeds if possible) and then add the wedges of apple, oranges & lemon and add sugar and brandy, barcardi & cointreau. Add red wine and ginger ale or club soda or lemonade, depending on your taste. Give a good stir, leave for a few minutes and serve. A lot of recipes say to chill overnight but I would recommend you drink it staright away!!
Addition ideas: sliced strawberries, peaches, handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, a shot or two of gin, brandy or rum, a cup of ginger ale, citrus soda pop or lime juice.
Sangria with fruit is a perfect summertime drink. What makes it great is that you can customize it to hold your favourite fruits, and get some lovely nutrition as well! Where most sangrias are made with red wine, this is made with white wine to emphasize the fruity flavours.
1 bottle Spanish (or other favorite) white wine
Half fill a litre jug with ice, mix together the wine, sugar, brandy and lemonade until well mixed. Add in the fruits, stir well and leave for a few minutes and serve.
A refreshing change to the basic sangria recipe, perfect for a sunny day.
1 bottle red wine (Rioja preferred, but any would do)
Half fill a litre jug with ice, mix together the wine, sugar, cognac, lemonade and lemon juice until well mixed. Add in the slices of lemon, stir well and leave for a few minutes and serve.
