There are several bars in Riviera, try David's bar for a relaxing evening drink and a very popular bar is George's bar. Charley's Bar & Restaurant looking onto the A7 (N340) main coast road, is well worth a visit, where you will get a friendly welcome and a great meal. The nearby underpass leads to a safe beach with a number of atmospheric beach bars (chiringuitos). A new restaurant/bar, on the beach, has just opened. There are also many others in nearby Calypso and Calahonda.
George's pub (on the corner of the cross roads of Riviera Playa)a family owned and run bar, which is open from early morning for breakfast until very late.
JJ's Bar is looks onto the main coast road A7 (N340) and is imbetween the Banca March and Leisure Immo at the main roundabout at the bottom of Riviera.
The Riviera Holidays Bar and restaurant is located on Calle Sirius just down from George's bar. As well as being a bar, as you can see from the piccie you can get an English Breakfast and other nice food there.
Max Beach Bar sits right on the beach at Riviera del Sol and offers a lovely view out to sea. It is a great place to go for a drink in the evening, when the weather has been hot, as you get the cooling effects of the sea.
David Bar is located on the main strip in Riviera del Sol, between the supermarket and George's Bar.
There are numerous places to eat in and around Riviera del Sol and the following are definitely worth a visit:
The Miel y Nata restaurant, Calahonda, is well worth a visit and offers great food at reasonable prices and is located up in the Calahonda Hills. If you travel past the La Siesta Golf Club, on the road up to the top end of Calahonda, you will notice the restaurant on a bend in the road. Try to find it,you will not be disappointed.
SlowBoat - Chinese Restaurant located on the Avda Espana, Calahonda is well worth a visit as the food is spot on and reasonably priced. Opening hours are 12.00 noon - 14.00 hrs and then 18.30 hrs - midnight. They do takeaways as well.
Millican's Restaurant & BBQ - is located right next to the Barclays Bank in Calypso approx 600 m from Riviera. The food is spot on, also reasonably priced and service excellent. It can get rather busy and with limited table space I would suggest booking a table during the "seasons", as when we sampled their fare in September they were turning people away. Need we say anymore! So if you want to give them a try ring 952 931 103 to reserve a table. Oh, before I forget, they do offer a true vegetarian menu/option!
Restaurante - La Plaza, is located in Riviera above the main shopping centre and can be entered via a door at the Davids Bar side of the complex.
If the kids are giving you hell whilst on hols, why not give them a treat and visit McDonalds (Calahonda). Travelling on the N340 coast road, take the Calahonda - Cambio de Sentido turnoff, down and under the main road and you will see McDonalds on the other side. If you sit on one side of the restaurant you will get a sea view.
We found The Garden Bar whilst walking along the beach from Riviera towards La Cala. It is run by Alan & Julie Abbott and is located within the Rocas del Mar complex but can be accessed from the beach. It is a superb location to sit and relax for a drink and or a meal overlooking the sea.
A varied menu is on offer, with a Sunday roast available for those missing the good old roast dinner. Tuesday night is Barbeque night with live entertainment on. You can get to the Garden Bar, off the A7 (N-340) coast road, opposite Miraflores, and go through the pedestrial gate for the Rocas del Mar complex. Follow the footpath down to the beach and enjoy the view!

There are a number of bars and restaurants within the El Zoco Centre, Calahonda and we accessed the courtyard, which is in the middle of the Centre, around the back by going down one of the "alleyways". Whilst eating your meal musicians stroll around the area creating a relaxed atmosphere as they play their Spanish guitars! This photo was taken during the day, of course, but gives you an idea as the layout of the "courtyard". After your meal you can have a drink in one of the bars upstairs.
We can recommend this small Italian Restaurant - Trattoria Italiana, which is within the courtyard at the El Zoco Centre. It is run by genuine Italians, as stated on a poster on their door. The food and service was excellent and is well worth a try. To arrange a booking ring them on 952 590 559.
Miraflores Golf Club, Riviera del Sol A great place to enjoy a meal in relaxed surroundings and can be well recommended.(Many thanks to Paul & Pamela Bentley for this info; note Paul is a chef, so he should know.)
Alberts This unusually decorated restaurant is located in Peurto Cabopino, where the setting is superb and the food is excellent and is frequented by celebrities and soap stars. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, our roving culinary reporter, Shaun, has visited Alberts recently and has said, "its overpriced, small portions are a rip off, and I will not be going there again in a hurry". You have been warned.
